Programs

Meaningful Work. Unforgettable Experiences.

Hunting Park Green invests in opportunities for young people in North Philly to encourage them to heal from adversity, reimagine and mobilize others to transform their neighborhood through grassroots, project-based services. All to charge their self-confidence, environmental justice, community connection and life success. All paid for.

Our approach to social activism is grounded by a simple principle: We connect hearts before we link hands.

Program offerings include:

Social Support

Peer Specialist Support: Young people are encouraged to participate in one-hour weekly sessions with a Peer Life Coach that’s grounded in self-directed and self-defined well-being, encouraging them to explore traditional or nontraditional pathways to healing from traumatic experiences.

Life Skills: Embedded in our programming model are activities designed to build social-emotional capacities through experiential learning. Along with Independent-living skill building support and professional development workshops—all within a safe, caring and compassionate context.

Human-Centered Design Thinking

Weekly group sessions train participants on human-centered design thinking capacities. Along with exposure to ideation and prototyping methods to measure impact of our services/programming. In order to support our community-centered design efforts.

Exposure to Specialized Disciplines

Participants explore an area of interest within a specialized media-design discipline through projects that advance Hunting Park Green’s mission, promote interdisciplinary teamwork and offers experiential career/workforce development exposure.

Environmental Stewardship and Beautification

Participants grow in their understanding of how public spaces affect community health, introducing young people to urban design, community organizing and civic engagement.
